Surprise Inspection at Nibirii Festival Finds 24 Unregistered Workers
On August 23, 2025, the Main Customs Office Aachen conducted a surprise inspection at the Nibirii Festival in Düren. The aim was to ensure proper registration of employees with social security. Unfortunately, the inspection uncovered several violations.
Out of the 45 employees interviewed from 18 companies, 24 were found to be unregistered. Furthermore, one foreign employee was working without a permit, and another employer was found to have hired a foreign employee without the necessary permit. The inspection focused on industries such as building cleaning, security, and hospitality.
The evaluation of the data collected during the inspections is still ongoing. However, initial findings suggest that more than 10 employees were not registered, potentially indicating criminal offenses involving the withholding and misappropriation of social security contributions. Among the companies inspected, 7 were found to have violated the legal requirements for employee registration with social security.
The Hauptzollamt Aachen is currently reviewing the data collected during the inspection. If criminal offenses are confirmed, appropriate action will be taken. The inspection serves as a reminder for all employers to ensure their employees are properly registered with social security.
