Tata Chemicals Europe Secures Offtake Contract with Vertex Hydrogen

In a significant move for the hydrogen market, Tata Chemicals Europe and Vertex Hydrogen have agreed to collaborate, marking another major step forward in the North West's energy transition.

Martin Ashcroft, the Managing Director of Tata Chemicals Europe, and Joe Seifert, the CEO of Vertex Hydrogen, have signed a 'heads of terms' offtake agreement for the supply of over 200MW+ of low carbon hydrogen. This agreement is a significant step in the relationship between the two companies as they continue their journey as leaders in industrial decarbonisation.

Tata Chemicals Europe, one of Europe's leading producers of sodium carbonate, salt, sodium bicarbonate, and other chemicals used in various industries, views Vertex Hydrogen and low carbon hydrogen as a real opportunity to further reduce emissions at their CHP facility. This aligns with Tata Chemicals Europe's commitment to being an industry leader driving tangible change to reduce emissions.

Vertex Hydrogen, an integral part of HyNet, the UK's leading industrial decarbonisation cluster, is proud to be helping the UK lead the development of low carbon hydrogen production. The company will supply Tata Chemicals Europe with hydrogen as the company continues to decarbonise its operations in the UK with a target of achieving 'net zero' manufacturing by 2030.

The agreement was signed on January 26, 2023. This news comes shortly after TCE opened the UK's first industrial scale carbon capture and usage plant in June 2022, which captures 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, equivalent to taking over 20,000 cars off the road.

For more details about this agreement, please visit the respective websites of Tata Chemicals and Vertex Hydrogen. The news is a testament to both companies' commitment to building the UK's low carbon energy future. While the founder and managing director of Vertex Hydrogen is not explicitly stated in the available search results, the company continues to help build the UK's low carbon energy future under the leadership of its CEO, Joe Seifert.
