In a strategic move to boost its long-term growth strategy, Emirates Driving Company, part of the ADX-listed Multiply Group, has purchased a 22.5% stake in Mwasalat Holding, a leading taxi and fleet operator based in Abu Dhabi. This acquisition is expected to create significant operational synergies, enhancing efficiency and profitability by combining EDC’s advanced technology-driven approach with Mwasalat’s established fleet and service network.

Both companies have emphasised collaboration in delivering safer, more accessible, and intelligent mobility solutions. This collaboration will be achieved through the integration of digital platforms, AI-driven solutions, and seamless multi-modal transport services to improve customer experience and operational excellence. The joint efforts aim to meet evolving community needs across the UAE, particularly in the context of emerging innovations such as robo-taxis and air-taxi services being trialed in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Future plans include leveraging their combined strengths to lead smart mobility transformation in the region by advancing innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. They seek to unlock new opportunities for enhancing service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction, thereby redefining mobility experiences in the UAE. EDC’s CEO, Khaled Al Shemeili, highlighted the importance of innovation as a strategic imperative and the commitment to setting new standards in smart mobility in partnership with Mwasalat.

The partnership is set to position both companies as urban mobility champions, working jointly to provide integrated, technology-enabled, and customer-centric urban transport solutions. EDC has the option to increase its shareholding in Mwasalat Holding to 50.6%, subject to certain conditions and regulatory approvals. The deal is expected to pave the way for greater profitability, reinforcing EDC's position as a mobility champion.

Apart from public buses and taxis, Mwasalat Holding operates school transport and corporate hire vehicles. In 2024, Mwasalat Holding generated over Dh650 million in revenues. This strategic investment by Emirates Driving Company is a significant part of its long-term growth strategy, aiming to shape the future of urban mobility in the UAE during a time of generational changes in the mobility space.
