Improved Traffic Flow Expected with Schleifmühle Roundabout Reopening: Considerable Advancement in Construction Project

In a recent press release, Siegen's Mayor Steffen Mues announced an accelerated reopening of the Schleifmühle roundabout to traffic. The location, a crucial traffic junction in Siegen after "Koch's Corner," is anticipated to resume traffic flow by mid-September 2025—approximately three months earlier than initially planned. Construction work is slated for completion by mid-October.

Amid challenges and extra services provided by the construction consortium ARGE Baustra/Weber, improved collaboration has had a substantial effect on expediting the project's progress. The revamped roundabout will significantly boost traffic flow, safety, and user-friendliness in the area.

Roadworks are ongoing, with asphalt jobs underway in Marienborner Straße and Fludersbach. The new bypass at the VEB building is being paved, followed by the second half of Fludersbach street, encompassing a new bus stop. The roundabout conversion will be finished by mid-September, which will make the Lindenberg direction accessible again while eliminating the need for the detour via Wetzlarer Straße.

The estimated costs for the expensive project amount to approximately nine million euros, with 60 percent of the funds coming from the state of NRW. The resulting roundabout, spanning 40 meters, will be equipped with two lanes and a generous width to address capacity concerns and reduce congestion. Furthermore, an additional bypass from Lindenberg towards Kaan-Marienborn will facilitate quicker traffic flow.

The construction consortium ARGE Baustra/Weber's improved collaboration has not only expedited the Schleifmühle roundabout project but has also paved the way for advancements in other sectors, such as finance. The state of NRW's investment of 60% of the funds for the project, approximately nine million euros, demonstrates a significant commitment to the development of Siegen's transportation and finance industries.
