Three Turkish Men Sentenced for Wage Fraud and Tax Evasion in Germany
Three Turkish-origin men, aged 47, 48, and 55, from Crailsheim and Feuchtwangen have been sentenced for wage fraud and tax evasion. The men operated a construction business, generating millions in turnover while paying minimal social security contributions. They were arrested in a nationwide raid involving 200 officers and have been in custody since then.
The men were found guilty of withholding and misappropriating wages and defrauding SOKA Bau, a German construction industry's social fund. The verdict, handed down by the Stuttgart Regional Court, is not yet final. The case was extensively investigated by the Main Customs Office Heilbronn's Financial Control of Black Work unit, which conducted covert operations and raids across Germany. The men were sentenced to a total of 140 months in prison, with individual sentences ranging from four years to three years and eight months.
The men operated their business as a group, generating significant turnover from June 2019 to September 2023. However, they paid minimal social security and social fund contributions, allowing them to undercut competitors and gain an unfair advantage. The Hauptzollstelle Heilbronn, the main customs office in Heilbronn, led the investigation. Questions regarding this case can be directed to Marcel Schröder, the press spokesman, who can be reached at 07131-8970-1050, 0175 / 26 90 512, or via email at [email protected].
The sentencing of these men sends a strong message that wage fraud and tax evasion will not be tolerated. The extensive investigation and nationwide raids demonstrate the commitment of German authorities to upholding the law and protecting workers' rights. The verdict, while not yet final, marks a significant step in bringing these offenders to justice.
