Traffic Alert: New detour plan announced due to water main rupture

In the coming weeks, there will be significant changes to bus routes in Wiesbaden due to construction and road closures. Here's a breakdown of the affected lines and their new detour routes, as well as information on how to stay updated.

From August 18, 2025, a water main break on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring will cause rerouting for several lines, including 3, 6, 16, 22, 27, 33, 34, 49, and school buses N7. The exact detour routes can be found on ESWE Verkehr's official website and live route planner.

Line 22, which serves the Berufsschulzentrum (BSZ) and Freizeitbad, will undergo changes. Towards the BSZ, the route will be via Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Welfenstraße, and Brunhildenstraße. On the way to Freizeitbad, the route will be via Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, and Welfenstraße. The Gartenfeldstraße and Wittelsbacherstraße stops will be served on both routes.

The Mainzer Straße stop will be skipped on the route towards Freizeitbad due to construction, but it will be served regularly on the route towards the city center. The route towards the city center will be via Wittelsbacherstraße, Wettinerstraße, Mainzer Straße, Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, Bahnhofstraße, further to the "Hauptbahnhof B" or "Hauptbahnhof D" stops.

The route towards the "Hauptbahnhof A" stop will be via Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Welfenstraße, and Brunhildenstraße to "Berufsschulzentrum". The "Gartenfeldstraße" and "Wittelsbacherstraße" stops are served, and the "Mainzer Straße" stop is skipped on this route.

Lines 27, 269, 274, 275, X79, and line 273 (only destination BSZ) also have routes towards Berufsschulzentrum. However, as of mid-August 2025, no specific detour updates have been announced for these lines. It is recommended to consult ESWE Verkehr directly or check their official network updates shortly before travel.

For lines 45 and 49, there were closures around John-F.-Kennedy-Straße and a junction at Hofmannstraße/Patrickstraße, but these do not directly affect lines 16, 22, 27, etc.

For up-to-date information on schedules, fares, and detour routes, you can visit the timetable displays at affected stops, the interactive route map on www.netzplan-our website.de, and www.eswe-verkehr.de. You can also reach ESWE-Verkehr's service telephone from Monday to Friday between 7 and 18 o'clock, as well as on Saturdays from 8 to 15 o'clock under the phone number (0611) 45022450. For schedules and fare information, the Rhine-Main Transport Association's hotline is available daily around the clock at the number (069) 24248024.

The construction and road closures on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring in August 2025 will affect not only bus routes but also the transportation of school buses in Wiesbaden. For line 22, there will be changes in the route towards Berufsschulzentrum and Freizeitbad.

Due to construction, the finance industry located near Mainzer Straße may experience disruptions in public-transit services, as the Mainzer Straße stop will be skipped on the route towards Freizeitbad. Passengers are advised to check ESWE Verkehr's official website and live route planner for the exact detour routes.
