Traffic Jams in MV Rise Slightly in 2025, A11 and A20 Most Affected

Traffic jams in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV) saw a slight increase in 2025, with the A11 being the most affected route. The border crossing Pomellen proved to be the most problematic area, experiencing 256 jams throughout the year.

The total number of traffic jams in MV rose from 722 in 2024 to 814 in 2025. However, the overall time spent in these jams decreased by 13,964 minutes (27%), amounting to 37,078 minutes in 2025. The length of traffic jams also decreased, from 873 km in 2024 to 801 km in 2025.

The A11 had the most jams in 2025, with all 256 occurring at the border crossing Pomellen. The A20 followed with 183 jams, which were almost 50% longer in duration than those on the A11. The longest jam of the year was recorded on the A20 between Bad Doberan and Neukloster on August 10, stretching 13 km. Other major routes affected were the A19 with 68 jams and the A24 with 43 jams.

Despite the increase in traffic jams in MV, the total time spent in these jams decreased in 2025. The A11 and A20 were the most affected routes, with the border crossing Pomellen being the most congested area. ADAC Hansa e.V. continues to monitor these trends, with Menno Gebhardt now handling and expanding the video content area following Christof Tietgen's appointment as head of press and public relations.
