Train Service Disruption: Cancellation of ICE - Resurgence of RB33 by Deutsche Bahn
The German Railway (Deutsche Bahn) is set to make significant changes to its timetable, affecting the two direct lines to Hamburg and Aachen. As of the current issue, these lines no longer stop in Mülheim, a change that is detailed in the latest issue of the railway magazine.
The affected lines are the only two that go directly to Hamburg and Aachen, as of the current issue. The RB33 line, which runs between Duisburg and Essen, is one of the lines affected by these changes. This line, which had been suspended for over a year, will resume service on October 14, 2025. The resumed RB33 line will stop at Mülheim Hauptbahnhof and Styrum.
The new timetable for the German Railway will not be officially published until next month. However, the person responsible for the redistribution of trains towards Hamburg and Aachen at Deutsche Bahn is already involved in planning operational train allocations (dispatching) and coordinating schedules. The new timetable release is scheduled for official publication on December 15, 2025.
It is worth noting that the RB33 line is not the only one affected by these changes. The railway lines in question are set to no longer stop in Mülheim, and the new timetable for the German Railway will affect these lines going to Hamburg and Aachen.
On a positive note, the resumption of the RB33 line will provide an important connection between Duisburg and Essen, and the continued operation of the other lines going to Hamburg and Aachen will ensure that travel to these cities remains possible for passengers.
As always, passengers are advised to check the Deutsche Bahn website for the most up-to-date information on train schedules and any potential disruptions.
