Train service improvements: significant easing of restrictions on Munich's commuter rail system, known as the S-Bahn.
In an unexpected turn of events, some lines of the S-Bahn network in Munich are experiencing disruptions due to a signal malfunction in the mainline area, as announced at 09:55 this morning.
As a result, S1 is currently running only between Moosach and Freising/Flughafen, while S5 is operating only between Kreuzstraße and Ostbahnhof. Several other lines will be partially or not at all in regular operation, leading to significant follow-up delays, as well as early turnbacks and partial cancellations.
Fear not, as alternative travel options are available for commuters. These include U-Bahn, bus, and tram services. For instance, travel between Pasing and Munich Ostbahnhof can be facilitated through Tram 16, Tram 17, Tram 18, Tram 19, Tram 20, Tram 21 (two separate routes), Tram 25 (two separate routes), U5, and Bus 57 or 130/157.
