TU Braunschweig Leads at WSCC 2025: Tackling Water Security in a Changing Climate
The Technical University of Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) is set to collaborate with international partners at the Water Security and Climate Change Conference (WSCC) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from October 8 to 10, 2025. The conference aims to bridge the gap between scientific findings and practical steps for water security under changing climate conditions.
Professor Julia Gebert, head of the Department of Waste and Resource Management at TU Braunschweig's Institute for Hydraulic Engineering (LWI), underscores the significance of the WSCC in tackling future water security challenges. The LWI team will focus on bolstering societal resilience to climate extremes during the conference.
The researchers will delve into solutions for meeting the challenges posed by extreme events on central sectors such as water, agriculture, energy, and mobility. They will explore early warning systems for water extremes, impact assessments, and techniques for predicting climate extremes. The LWI team will contribute these three central topics to the WSCC.
The WSCC, an initiative of the Program for University Competence in Development Cooperation - exceed, is organized by various institutions, with TU Braunschweig playing a key role in content design and organization. The conference seeks to foster concrete action steps for water security in the face of climate change, with TU Braunschweig's collaboration promising valuable insights and solutions.
