In a significant move for Vietnam's tourism industry, the Van Don Integrated Casino and Tourism Complex, a $2 billion mega project by Sun Group, is set to revolutionise the landscape of entertainment in the country. Officially selected as the investor in August 2025, the project spans over 244.45 hectares within the Van Don Economic Zone in Quang Ninh province.

This ambitious project, designed as a large, international-scale integrated resort and entertainment complex, will feature a luxury casino as its main attraction, alongside high-end hotels, condotels, commercial centers, convention halls, sports and recreation facilities, and wellness services.

A key highlight of the project is the policy shift allowing Vietnamese citizens to access the casino for the first time under strict regulations, expanding the domestic customer base and attracting international tourists. The casino aims to combine high-stakes gaming with comprehensive leisure, hospitality, cultural experiences, and world-class entertainment.

The success of the Van Don project could elevate Van Don to a new standard of tourism and entertainment in Vietnam, transforming it into a luxury tourism hub comparable to global gaming centers like Macau and Las Vegas. By decisively boosting the Van Don Economic Zone's development, the complex is expected to stimulate related sectors such as hospitality, shopping, wellness, and entertainment, thus fostering economic growth and job creation in the region.

The Van Don Integrated Casino and Tourism Complex is poised to serve as a new economic engine for Vietnam. If successful, Van Don could become a new entertainment landmark in Asia, serving as a key driver for Vietnam's economy in this century. The project is anticipated to take around nine years to complete and operations will continue for up to 70 years.

The chairman of Sun Group's Northern Region, Nguyen Quang Huy, has emphasized the project's potential to offer an unprecedented experience in Van Don. The completion of the project is expected to attract a significant number of international tourists, strengthening Quang Ninh's role as an economic and tourism hub in northern Vietnam.

Once finished, the project will create thousands of jobs in construction, tourism, hospitality, and related service industries. The Van Don Integrated Casino and Tourism Complex is expected to stimulate foreign investment in Vietnam, paving the way for Vietnam's global expansion in the entertainment complex industry and positioning Vietnam on the global map for tourism and entertainment alongside Macau and Las Vegas.
