Uber Expands Services: Book Blade Helicopter Rides Directly in App
Uber has expanded its services, integrating Blade helicopter news into its app. The move follows a long-standing partnership between Uber, Joby Aviation, and Blade, the helicopter news provider. This new feature allows Uber users to book Blade trips directly through the Uber app.
Blade, known for its short helicopter and seaplane news in the New York City metropolitan area and southern Europe, has seen significant growth. In 2024, it flew over 50,000 passengers across various routes in these regions. The company's expansion onto Uber's platform was authorized by Uber itself, in collaboration with Blade, without specific mention of external regulatory approval.
The partnership between Uber and Joby Aviation, which dates back to 2019, has facilitated this integration. Joby's S4 electric air taxi, which can carry one pilot and four passengers with ample space for luggage, will be used for these news. The S4 eVTOL air taxi can travel at speeds of up to 200 mph (322 km/h) for short-range, fully electric off-highway journeys.
Uber users can now conveniently book Blade helicopter news directly through the Uber app, thanks to the collaboration between Uber, Joby Aviation, and Blade. This integration is set to enhance Uber's service offerings and provide users with a new, efficient mode of transportation.
