UECC & Act Group Launch 90% Emissions Cut Biofuel for Maritime
UECC has partnered with Act Group to develop and deploy DSI.100, a sustainable biofuel for maritime use. The project aligns with the industry's push for a circular economy and significant emissions reductions.
DSI.100 biofuel, developed by Act Group, has secured approval for use as a 30% blend in distillate marine fuels. These fuels have very low sulphur content, making them more environmentally friendly than heavy marine oils.
The biofuel has been certified as sustainable and fully controlled, ensuring a reliable and responsible supply chain. UECC, along with Lloyd's Register and Wartsila, is working on integrating this biofuel into maritime operations. The project has also involved CELLINK and MAN Energy Solutions in development and testing.
DSI.100 offers a substantial 'well-to-wake' emissions reduction of 90% compared to conventional fuels. This makes it a significant step towards decarbonising the maritime sector. UECC sees this project as aligning with the industry's efforts to establish a circular economy.
UECC, in collaboration with Act Group and other industry leaders, is advancing the use of DSI.100 biofuel in maritime operations. This biofuel, with its high sustainability and low emissions, is poised to transform the sector's environmental impact.
