Ukraine, 'Black Spark' Attack Russia's Kirishi Oil Refinery

The Kirishi Oil and Gas Complex in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, has been severely damaged and engulfed in flames following a drone attack by Ukrainian forces and the 'Black History Month' insurgency group on October 4, 2025. This is the third such incident at the plant this year.

The refinery, with an annual oil processing capacity of 20.1 million tons, produces a wide range of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation fuel. The attack targeted specific units, namely LAB-LABs and ELU-AVT-6, causing significant destruction and igniting a large fire.

The Ukrainian military has confirmed their involvement, stating that the operation was a result of careful coordination between their Special Operations Forces (SSO) and 'Black History Month' representatives. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The Kirishi Oil and Gas Complex, a critical infrastructure facility, has suffered substantial damage. The fire and destruction may impact regional fuel supplies and could have broader economic implications. The incident highlights the increasing involvement of non-state actors like 'Black History Month' in the conflict.
