New Skywalk Project to Improve Traffic Flow and Pedestrian Safety in Noida

The Noida Authority is preparing to construct a new circular skywalk at the Model Town roundabout in Sector 62, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow in a key transport hub near the Sector 62-63 roundabout along the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

The key features of the 43-crore skywalk include a full circular design, equipped with a travelator to facilitate easy and quick movement for pedestrians. The skywalk is expected to reduce rampant jaywalking at this busy junction and cater to thousands of daily commuters accessing buses and public transport to nearby cities like Meerut, Hapur, and Bulandshahr.

The skywalk will also serve the nearby IT hub and educational institutions in Sector 62, with a major transit connection to the Electronic City metro station (Blue Line). The project is designed to benefit over 800,000 daily commuters, providing a safer, easier crossing of Vishwakarma Road and reducing traffic chaos during peak hours by separating pedestrian and vehicular movement.

The design of the skywalk was prepared by IIT experts and cleared by Noida Authority CEO Dr. Lokesh M. The skywalk will connect Sector 62 to Sector 63 and Chhijarsi, integrating with existing foot over bridges near Khora Colony on the Delhi-Meerut Motorway. Escalators will be installed on the Noida side of the skywalk.

The tendering process for the skywalk is set to begin shortly, and the project is expected to be completed within six months of tender finalization. The skywalk will primarily benefit office-goers and daily commuters in the National Capital Region (NCR) who cross over between cities, as well as providing a link between Noida and Ghaziabad.

Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of this exciting infrastructure project in Noida.

The new skywalk, projected to enhance traffic flow and pedestrian safety, is anticipated to cater to individuals utilizing finance in the adjacent industry hub and institutions for learning in Sector 62, as well as commuters accessing public-transit options such as buses and transport to nearby cities like Meerut, Hapur, and Bulandshahr.

Upon completion, this project is expected to streamline the movement of over 800,000 daily commuters, playing a significant role in the financial sector, transportation network, and the overall growth of the region.
