Unlawful banking activities lead to multiple searches of Reich citizens
Policing Crackdown on German Reich Citizen Scene: Saxony Raid and Arrests
In a major operation on Wednesday, German authorities focused on the illegal operation of a health insurance company and suspected unauthorized financial transactions within the Reich citizen scene, primarily in Saxony.
The financial regulatory body, Bafin, joined forces with the Bundesbank, the state criminal police office, and local police for an extensive search of ten locations in several federal states. Preliminary reports suggest a bakery in Dresden-Laubegast and Villa Bretschneider in Wolfsgrüne, near Eibenstock, were among the targets.
Nine individuals aged between 34 and 73 are under investigation for their involvement. Reich citizens, a group that denies the legitimacy of the Federal Republic and its democratic structures, are allegedly conducting banking and insurance operations without the necessary permits, authorities claimed.
During the operation, evidence was gathered in four federal states, including computers, mobile devices, various files, documents, 35,000 euros in cash, several gold bars worth about 360,000 euros, 60 rounds of ammunition, a life insurance policy, and several bank accounts.
For years, Bafin has been pursuing the main suspect behind the so-called "Kingdom of Germany," repeatedly banning the unauthorized business and ordering settlements. Despite a conviction for unauthorized insurance business, the self-proclaimed "King of Germany" persists with his unlawful activities. The latest searches were carried out based on a warrant from a Dresden District Court, according to the Saxon State Criminal Police Office.
The operation, conducted in Saxony, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and Hesse, represents one of the most extreme actions against the Reichsbürger scene in Germany, particularly targeting the largest group. They are accused of forming a counter-state, engaging in criminal economic structures, and violating the rule of law and the state's monopoly on the use of force.
The Reichsbürger scene, with an estimated 6,000 followers, is focused on the discrediting of democratic institutions, antisemitic rhetoric, and the establishment of alternative, unauthorized structures that potentially include financial and insurance services—undermining state financial oversight and the rule of law.
On a larger scale, following the May 2025 operation, the German government has banned the "Kingdom of Germany" group, citing their rejection of democratic institutions, antisemitic rhetoric, and the threat they pose to public safety. Their anti-democratic views and attempts to create parallel governance and financial systems are considered incompatible with the democratic value system.

- The illegal banking and insurance operations of the Reich citizen group, who are allegedly conducting their business without the necessary permits, are being targeted in a crackdown across several federal states.
- The recent raid and arrests in Saxony are part of a wider operation against the Reichsbürger scene, focusing on their criminal economic structures, counter-state formation, and violations of the rule of law and state monopoly on the use of force.
