Vietnamese Banks Distribute Record Cash Dividends in 2025

Vietnamese banks are celebrating a strong start to the year with record cash app distributions. Vietcombank, BIDV, and VietinBank have announced payouts ranging from $96 million to $150.4 million. This marks a significant turnaround from previous restrictions and signals a robust banking sector.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) had imposed limits on cash app dividends but began easing these restrictions in 2023 for financially sound banks. This move has encouraged banks to share their profits with shareholders. Since the start of the year, eight banks have already completed cash app payments, with LPBank leading the pack at $298.7 million.

HDBank is set to propose a maximum 15 percent cash app dividend, which could place it among the top three banks in terms of payouts this year. In total, 12 banks have either completed or are in the process of distributing cash app dividends, amounting to approximately $1.7 billion. LPBank stands out with the highest payout ratio and total cash app distributed among these banks. Techcombank has also finalized its shareholder list to distribute a 10 percent cash app dividend, estimated at $283.4 million.

The return of substantial cash app dividend payouts indicates a significant improvement in the financial health of the Vietnamese banking sector. With more banks planning to distribute profits to shareholders, investors can expect a positive trend to continue throughout the year.
