Vingroup Proposes Ambitious Infrastructure Projects to Boost HCMC Connectivity
Vingroup has proposed a series of ambitious infrastructure projects in the newly expanded Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), aiming to boost regional connectivity and ease chronic congestion. The proposals align with the prime minister's Decision 1125/QD-TTg, which prioritizes modern infrastructure and regional connectivity.
Vingroup has suggested a sea-crossing bridge connecting Can Gio commune and Vung Tau ward under a build-transfer (BT) model. This bridge, designed to alleviate traffic on existing routes, was proposed after a study by the HCMC Department of Construction and a consulting unit. The study examined a section of a southern coastal road passing through HCMC, including the investment plan for the Can Gio sea bridge linking with Vung Tau.
In addition to the bridge, Vingroup has proposed a high-speed rail link between the Phu My Hung urban area and Can Gio. This rail link is designed for speeds up to 350 km/h, promising swift travel between the two locations. The Can Gio-Vung Tau corridor, though strategic for Vietnam's maritime economy, port development, tourism, and coastal urbanization, remains underdeveloped.
Vingroup's proposals, including the sea-crossing bridge and high-speed rail link, aim to strengthen economic and logistics linkages, support sustainable urban expansion, and cut travel times between coastal zones in the newly expanded HCMC. These projects, if approved and implemented, could significantly improve connectivity and boost the region's development.
