Washington D.C. welcomes the inauguration of Joshua L. Mogil as the new Treasurer of the District of Columbia Bar.
The legal community recently welcomed a new addition to its leadership, as Joshua L. Mogil was sworn in as the Treasurer of the DC Bar Pro Bono Center on July 22. Mogil, an attorney at WilmerHale, will serve concurrently in this role and as a Board Director of the DC Bar Pro Bono Center.
Mogil's involvement with the DC Bar extends beyond his new role. He has been a dedicated member of various committees and associations within the organisation, serving previously as President of the DC LGBTQ+ Bar Association and on the DC Bar Board of Governors. His commitment to the DC Bar is evident, and his new position is a testament to his dedication.
The DC Bar, the largest unified bar in the United States, serves lawyers in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. It is a significant organisation in the legal profession, with a history of notable leaders, including those from prominent law firms. However, a search of current sources does not reveal any direct ties between Mogil and past DC Bar presidents, such as Shaun M. Snyder, Charles Lowery Jr., or the incoming 2025 president, Sadina Montani, who is a partner at Crowell & Moring LLP.
The DC Bar Pro Bono Center, a part of the DC Bar, is likely focused on providing pro bono legal services. Mogil's role in this centre aligns with his commitment to giving back to the community, a trait he has demonstrated through his work with the DC Voluntary Bar Leadership Group and the DC LGBTQ+ Bar Association.
Jamie Gorelick, a partner at WilmerHale and former DC Bar president, expressed pride in Mogil's new role. Gorelick's sentiment underscores the importance of Mogil's contributions to the legal community and the impact he is poised to have in his new position.
As Mogil embarks on this new chapter, he joins the ranks of other dedicated professionals working to uphold the values and mission of the DC Bar. His commitment to pro bono work and his dedication to the DC Bar make him an excellent choice for this role, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have in the coming years.
