White House Approves Controversial Endangered Species Act Rule Change
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has received White House approval for a contentious Endangered Species Act change. The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) gave the green light after a three-month study and discussions with industry and conservative groups.
The proposed rule modification, initially put forward by the Fish and Wildlife Service, aims to alter the Endangered Species Act. The approval clears the way for the Service to publish the proposal in the Federal Register. However, the timing of this publication remains uncertain due to the ongoing government shutdown.
The Endangered Species Act rule change, once published, will spark further debate. It will be subject to a public comment period before any final decisions are made.
