**Stellantis Boosts Hydrogen-Powered Light Commercial Vehicles Production at Hordain Site**

Stellantis, a global leader in sustainable mobility technology, is investing €10 million in the industrialization of hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles (LCVs) at its Hordain site in France. This move is part of the company's broader strategy to produce electric, combustion engine, and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

The Hordain site, inaugurated in 1994, is a benchmark for Stellantis, assembling light commercial vehicles and passenger cars from the "K-Zero" family. In 2021, the site produced 144,650 vehicles and reached a significant milestone with the production of its millionth "K-Zero" in summer 2022. The site currently employs 2,440 people on three shifts, with daily production of 628 vehicles.

The hydrogen-powered models will follow the usual stages of paintwork and assembly on the same production line as combustion engine and electric vehicles. The "K-Zero" vehicles with a fuel cell are intended for long-distance freight professionals who require a longer range, the fastest possible charging time, and no compromises on charging capacity.

While the focus in France is currently on battery electric vehicle (BEV) production and gigafactory development, Stellantis aims to be the first mass-produced manufacturer of hydrogen-powered utility vehicles. The production capacity of the Hordain site for these vehicles will be 5,000 per year from 2024. A dedicated team will install the tank, additional batteries, and fuel cell on a production line at the Hordain site.

However, as of 2024 and 2025, there is no publicly available information about Stellantis operating dedicated hydrogen-powered LCV production lines in France. The company's hydrogen fuel cell versions of certain LCVs, such as the Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen, Peugeot e-Expert Hydrogen, and Opel Vivaro-e Hydrogen, are primarily assembled in Germany and Italy for the European market.

Stellantis, as a major automaker, is involved in the production of electric light commercial vehicles and is part of the ACC joint venture, which is ramping up battery production for EVs in France. The company's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its goal to become the greatest sustainable mobility tech company, not the biggest.

As 43% of models for the Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Vauxhall, Fiat, and Toyota brands already available in a zero-emission electric version are produced at the Hordain site, the site plays a crucial role in Stellantis's industrial strategy. The company's continued investment in hydrogen technology at the Hordain site underscores its commitment to offering a diverse range of zero-emission vehicles to meet the needs of its customers.
