Zhambyl's Windy Future: 2 Gigawatts on the Horizon
Zhambyl Region Plans to Construct Two Gigawatt Wind Energy Facilities
Hey there! Let's talk about some exciting developments in Zhambyl, Kazakhstan. This region, known for its six energy efficiency and conservation projects, is beefing up its renewable energy sources, currently totaling 571.3 megawatts (MW) from 22 sources. These include hydroelectric, wind, and solar power plants.
Mark your calendars because things are about to get windier! Thanks to some ambitious plans, Zhambyl is set to double its wind power capacity with two gigantic wind farms. But the details are still a bit windy themselves, so here's the tea.
First off, we've got a 1 GW wind power plant in the pipeline, courtesy of the Masdar company hailing from the United Arab Emirates. Rather interestingly, this massive project will be constructed in the Sarysu and Talas districts, and it's expected to cost a cool 742 billion tenge (US$1.4 billion). Let's hope they catch the wind just right, as the construction starts in 2026 and the launch is scheduled for 2029.
But that's not all! Total Eren is also joining the Zhambyl game with another 1 GW wind project. This one will be located in the Moiynkum district, and the company is planning to invest a whopping one trillion tenge (US$1.9 billion). They've already secured 52,000 hectares of land and are aiming to get the party started in 2028.
Now, last year was a good year for Zhambyl, as they commissioned a 100 MW Shokpar wind power plant and expanded the AEC ASA solar power plant in the Zhambyl district by 20 MW.
A quick heads up, though. The timelines and specific company involvement in the Zhambyl Region aren't set in stone just yet. More official announcements are required to get the nitty-gritty details. In the meantime, let's raise a glass to Zhambyl's cleaner, greener future! 🎉🌀
In the ambit of Zhambyl's renewable energy expansion, the environmental-science sector is poised for growth with the introduction of two substantial wind farms. The finance sector, notably, will be instrumental in these projects, with Masdar investing 742 billion tenge for a 1 GW wind power plant and Total Eren allocating a trillion tenge for another 1 GW wind project.
