Wanted Man, Anarbek Zhauyrov Ditches his swanky Tribeca crib* The $8M New York City condo is a steal compared to the original buying price
Anarbek "Zhaw" Zhauyrov, the Kazakhstan national under the international spotlight for his alleged illegal gambling business, and a wanted fugitive in his homeland, has put his lavish three-bedroom Tribeca condo on the market for a cool $8M. The property, which was initially purchased at $8.1M, is a significant drop from the original asking price. Though, it's a flat-out bargain compared to the swanky lifestyle that comes with it.
Zhaw's gaming outfit, Olympus, holds a Curacao gaming license, which allows it to book bets in Russia but is considered a gray or even a black market operator in much of Western Europe. Regrettably, it's unavailable to North American bettors. But hey, who needs sports when you've got wealth, fame, and controversy, right?
Steve Wynn, another gambling titan, seems to be on the same page. He recently slashed the price of his 10,875-square-foot penthouse at 50 Central Park South by a whopping $20M, hinting his eagerness to, at best, break even with the property.
Real Estate Empire: The US Base of a Wanted Man
The swanky Tribeca condo isn't the only US property in Zhaw's investment portfolio. The gambling mogul also owns several otheroseworthy dwellings, both residential and commercial, scattered throughout the states.
According to the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), Zhaw owns five New York City apartments and a ritzy mansion in the suburbs. Four years ago, his Florida residential real estate holdings were worth an estimated $14.3M, but that number has likely soared today. His property collection also includes a multi-million dollar apartment in Boston, an apartment and office building in Miami, and a high-priced pad in Bal Harbor, FL.
It's believed that Zhaw generates most of his income by renting out his properties in the US. But don't worry, he's not exactly living under a rock and playing hide-and-seek from the law. His wife and brother are the official owners of the companies that control Olympus and affiliated internet sportsbooks.[1] Some legal experts (and we all know who they are) view this as little more than legal maneuvering to keep Anarbek Zhauyrov out of the legal crosshairs.
In 2022, accounts allegedly tied to Olympus holding $212M were seized by Russia's Internal Ministry of Affairs. The ministry pledged to work closely with Kazakh authorities to access the funds and potentially bring culprits to justice.[1]
Ruby Slippers and Golden Cars: Living Large on Instagram
Zhaw isn't one to shy away from flaunting his flashy lifestyle and wealth on social media, especially Instagram, where he's a magnet for Russian celebs. Rest assured, there's no shortage of 'gram-worthy posts of exotic travel destinations, international sports stars, and Zhaw's impressive auto collection. His garage houses a Rolls Royce Phantom, a Ferrari, and a handful of other luxury cars that have many automotive enthusiasts (and jealous neighbors, no doubt) green with envy.
Zhaw is also known for his extravagant parties, late-night rendezvous at swanky clubs, and stories of private jets shuttling him from one exotic location to another. It's a lavish life, for sure, but isn't that the allure of running an illegal gambling business?
